Emergency actions respond to hazardous situations, that represents a critical threat to the health, safety or wellbeing of a community. In 2022, estimated 274 million people worldwide were dependent on humanitarian aid: from Afghanistan to Ethiopia and Yemen to Myanmar and Syria. Never before has the suffering worldwide been so great. These areas were hit by exceptional and un/foreseeable causes which resulted in a situation of emergency.
The Finance Officer is responsible for the proper technical performance of all accounting-financial activities of the projects under his/her supervision. In this context, he/she ensures the correct and effective management/allocation of financial resources, in accordance with the organization procedures. He/her supports also the drafting of new projects.
In humanitarian action contexts, like all professional roles, the finance officer is often called upon to act quickly in revising budgets to adapt to the volatile emergency context. These are budgets and allocation of resources over a short period of time, that of emergency response, which require special skills of rapidity, flexibility and adaptation in management, always guaranteeing quality and accountability.
